Extension of Ernakulam Round Table

June 19^th 2010 played host to a new beginning in the Round Table movement with the Ernakulam Round Table finding its genesis. 15 years since its own formation and 7 years post the formation of a new table in Area 1, CBRT 131 identified the dire need for a new table in Cochin. This brought about the sponsoring of the new table, an initiative backed by calculated determination and diligence of CBRT 131 that assisted and guided the prospective tablers at every step. The various events that preceded the inauguration served as the preliminary introduction that prepared the prospective tablers to the Round Table movement.

From among numerous aspirants, the CBRT 131 carefully and selectively handpicked the prospective tablers. The contact meetings were initiated by CBRT in February 2010 and prospectives were formally introduced to the other prospective tablers who would soon become an important part of each others lives.

Though the meetings were conducted in the customary formality of a Round Table Business Meet, the evenings often wound up in good camaraderie, with jokes and laughter aplenty that cemented a strong bond of kinship. A chairman and secretary were appointed for each meeting and most of the prospective tablers were given a chance to chair the meetings.

In every meeting they were introduced to the various facets of Round Tabling and by the end of the seven stipulated mandatory meetings they knew the entire round tabling terminology back to back.

The prospectives also attended two socials hosted by the tablers of CBRT 131 and also attended the PTBAT at Kumarakom.

The inauguration was the culmination of all the efforts put in by CBRT 131. Held at the Taj Malabar, the arrangements and the ambience were truly special. Over 150 Tablers from across Area 1 made their appearance at the inauguration. The president of RTI, LMF Tr. Himanshu Gupta, LMF Tr. Sujay Giridharan Chairman Area 1, LMF Tr. Gautam Rao National Extension convener, LMF Tr. Balaji K Extension Convener Area 1, Chairman CBRT 131 LMF Tr. Rakesh Ramachandran were the dignitaries at the head tables. Special mention also goes to LMF Sq.Lg Bechu Kurian Thomas who played an important role during the inauguration. The tablers in attendance were entertained by a live music band. On the whole the entire event had a distinctive air of class.
